After a very busy summer the last day of opening is Monday October 31st. After that you may park at the gate and walk in unless there is construction going on. We are planning a project to fix the potholes in the parking lot. The washrooms will not be available after that date.

Over the summer every time I visited or passed by there were lots of cars in the parking lot and happy visitors enjoying the wonders of the Brokenhead Wetland. If you haven’t had a chance to go it’s not too late. We were out last week and the tamaracks were amazing!

There have been many reports of dogs on the trail and we would like to request your cooperation with keeping dogs off the trail. Unleashed dogs run on and off the trail and can destroy some of the rare and delicate plants that grow along the trail. Also, owners are not always responsible for picking up after their pet so we have made the difficult decision not to allow dogs on the trail. We appreciate your help with this request. Similarly please, no bicycles or motorized vehicles are allowed on the trail and boardwalk (except wheelchairs).

At the Debwendon board meeting last week it was announced that Carl Smith and Doris Ames are stepping down from the Board of Directors. The board would like to thank both Carl and Doris for many years of faithful service. The project took a long time, but it never would have happened without their dedicated efforts and determination. You can both be proud of the results of your work and we hope to see you out at the trail next year!
